Nothing Went Right
So this weekend ended how it started. Me gobbling over a less than impressive effort by one of my teams. Not sure how any of your teams did but I suffered ALL weekend.
To start out with the Georgia Bulldogs lose their All-American, top ten draft pick wide receiver. That was mid-week. To be honest by the time kick off rolled around I was pretty much accepting of the fact that we might lose.
Then there was the next day....NFL!!! Is there anything better?? Well maybe. A delicious steak....but that only lasts an hour at most. A child's laugh....no that usually turns to a shrieking cry at some point. The dimples on a woman's back just above her behind....ok ok so football is not everything but I digress.
My Sunday was even rougher. My favorite player got hurt. My local team lost, although I don't really care. And to top it off I was embarrassed by a franchise I feel I can no longer defend.
Saturday
Lets set the stage by saying that Friday night was a little crazy. My roommate and I wound the evening up roaming around our apartment complex at the wrong hour attempting to meet some neighbors. Strangely enough we met some good folks and enjoyed a few more beverages.
Had this been a home game my goose would have been cooked. I woke up at 11:45 am and had to hustle to get ready for the 12:00 kickoff. Burgers cooked we sit down to watch what turned out to be a pathetic effort by my Alma mater.
Granted our stud was out. The freshman QB looked good. And the new look 3-4 defense looked somewhat impressive save the plethora of missed tackles. But it was a stacked deck. Spurrier knew we could not play catch up if he got ahead. Only thing was he did not get that far ahead. Could we have used A.J. Green? Yes. Could we have won without him? Hell yes....but...
Our big man on campus RB fumbled the ball on the 2 yard line during a drive that would have given us the lead. Well he's young. And he just got out of jail. Perhaps he was thinking about his picture being in the local publication that shows the weekly jail intake mugshots.
Either way I recovered rather quickly because I was expecting a loss. The day rolled on by with several great games. Alabama looks unbeatable and Michigan makes me sick. Tennessee is pathetic and Ohio State looks awesome.
Its tough to complain about a day of football even if your team loses...early. You got the rest of the day to distract you.
Sunday
So my entire day is surrounded around one game. The night game. Dallas vs. Washington. Rivalry. Opening week. Football all day and just when you think you've peaked out your hit with a second wind that is prime time Dallas Football!!
I wont write to much about this "great event". Mainly because I am starting to become disgusted with what I see week in and week out.
I will focus on one point. Jerry Jones needs to hire a GM. I know this is harder said than done. For starters who the hell wants to work for him. He is scary looking...not to mention a total prick.
He has a great business mind and markets his team better than anybody in the sport. He is bigger than anyone else...that's his brand.
So when I see the great Dallas Cowboys embarrass themselves on prime time national TV I cant lie my loyalties began to waver.
Ill stick by you for now Jerry but even the most loyal fan will cheer for someone else if they have to. So get it together Mr. Jones. Your only 0-1. You got 15 more. So make me proud. I cant afford another broken chair. Or another bad bet.

2 - 2
Bad Dawgs
So as we all expected the #22 ranked Georgia Bulldogs renewed their rivalry with the # 24 ranked Gamecocks of South Carolina. Yes I said rivalry. We play every year. Its usually an awful game. South Carolina wishes it were Georgia. Spurrier is the head coach.....and I simply cant stand the thought of losing to an SEC bottom feeder....until this year.
Granted had A. J. Green not nutted up we would probably have won this game. But that was not the case. UGA's defense looked good. Freshman QB Arron Murray looked good.
What did not look good was the O- Line, the running game and Washaun Ealey's fumble on the 2 YARD LINE!!!!
But I will say that South Carolina's RB Lattimore is a BEAST. He was able to navigate himself through the flailing arm tackles for a HUGE day. Lets face a big day in the SEC is a big day shitty tackling or not.
So Enjoy it South Carolina. But do not forget that you had to catch us without our best player to beat us...you earned the win....kinda
See Gamecock fans at UGA even when we lose we win.
As for the Dogs season....well just focus on Florida. Get a respectable bowl and let Arron Murray grow like we all know he will. I see us 2-2 while A. J. is gone. Hopefully we can finish 10-2...hopefully.
Lets Move Idaho to The South
We all watched. We cold not wait to see it happen. We all knew that Virgina Tech and Beamer ball was going to come out and beat the breaks off those white boys form the potato state.
So what happened....well once again Frank Beamer and his sub par team was given a ridiculous preseason ranking.
It happens every year.
As for Boise State, well I think VT's loss to James Madison today sums up their big win of the season.
People, this team can not be taken seriously. They play no one. They play NO ONE. UGA plays 8 SEC schools a year plus Tech plus another non conference game.....this year we travel to Boulder.
Boise played VT at a neutral site...very weak.
So enough about that I feel that they will lose somewhere down the line this season. they have not lost in 15 games so statistically speaking they are due.
Oh yeah GA Tech lost to Kansas...bahahahaha

Yogurt for Breakfast
Use Yogurt
As one gets older they must change their diet. Luckily for me my mother would not allow white bread in the house and the only soft drink we had in the house was Schweeps Ginger Ale. That's not to say there was never any junk food...it was just home made. My mother is a great cook and my weekend memories are filled with vision of her Saturday morning "burning incense", dancing by herself to wonderful Motown music and pushing her culinary expertise to the limit. Banana bread, buttermilk pancakes, fresh marinara, home made cranberry sauce....etc. Wow that woman can cook. It's second nature to her almost like a survival skill. If the bananas are turning....we've got banana bread. If you don't have salad dressing use yogurt. Martha Stewart is a chump compared to this woman.
Happy Birthday Mom and thanks for keeping me full!

Auburn Looks Fast
A Good Evening of Pho And Football
So I'm sitting in my living room after another non-eventful day watching the first half of the Auburn vs Mississippi State game as I wait for Brett Farve and the Vikings take on the New Orleans Saints in the NFL season opener. I'm also doing a little scouting. The Bulldogs play both the these teams this year and to be honest I'm starting to get a little worried. Auburn looks fast....real fast.
Dinner
Living in a great town offers a diverse selection of eating establishments and I need a pregame meal. Tonight I think I am going to brave it and try something new. The Vietnamese joint within walking distance and has been calling my name and tonight I'm intrigued enough to try it. I ordered the Pho with well done brisket and rare flank steak. WOW!! The stuff is delicious. Very delicious, a blast of lime, beef, onions, basil hit me and I immediately know that I will be back.
A.J. What The F*ck!!
Enough about dinner...I'll probably mention it again. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell has happened to the University of Georgia's football team. I understand the cost of having a great college football team. The University of Miami set the standard for successful discipline in the early and mid-80's. I think one player got arrested for kiddnapping!! Lets face it one reason Jimmy Johnson was so successful in the NFL was because he had been coaching a pro team in Coral Gables for the previous five years but I digress. (First Cowboy Plug). Back to my main point.
Lets be honest the players are not getting busted with coke, or committing rape, they are being petty. They are also not that good of a team so I guess maybe the severity of the offense is relative to the teams success. One player steals a $35 helmet. Another commits a hit and run in a parking deck with NO LICENSE!! All in all 9 UGA players have been arrested this off season. Most of them for DUI. Considering that the head of the athletic association was arrested, then fired, for DUI in Tech territory with a coed and her panties and throw in that UGA just got voted the number 1 party school in the country and you can see how it can happen. In years pass Richt seemed to have control. This year his "Faith Based Offense" seems to be falling apart. I still have confidence in Richt but I can't lie its begining to waver a bit.
That brings us to A. J. Green. I must say that A. J. Green has seriously disappointed me. These kids need to understand what is at stake. They need to understand that they are always being watched. And they need to understand that you do not sell a bowl game jersey for $1000 directly to the agent....you sell it to the agents friend. A. J. be patient you only a few months away. You will be done with class in December. Critics of the rule understand this...A. J. Green could sell anything wants on eBay as long as it did not come from the university. Basically you can't come up on the school while your still there.
I can appreciate that rule. On one side you don't want to create a market of college sports memorabilia being run by the "amatuer" players. Agents using eBay as a cloaking devise for their "lending" enterprise. On the other side these kids are broke for the most part. They don't even make money if someone buys their number jersey from the school bookstore. I'm not in favor of playing players, I just see any fair way to do it. But they took the tickets away. They dont make money on jersey sales, I say if the players can make a little money selling personal items maybe we should let them. If however this rule is in place to prevent agent - player contact then it has its purpose.
Enjoy your time off A. J. see you in Boulder, but we better beat the Gators after this shit.
Dam Auburn looks really fast.
Lord Favre
Feeling better after a delicious meal and a rant about my Alma mater's delinquency I turn my attention to the best reality show on TV...no not Jersey Shore but that is second. The NFL!! While college football hits all 5 senses and requires almost no real knowledge of football to enjoy, the NFL is a physical spectacle and cerebral marathon the amazes you for 3 and a half hours.
Seriously, Brett Farve is 40!! 40!! He is playing among the fastest, strongest quickest guys on the planet and he is winning. It really is amazing. Granted he has probably the best set of offensive weapons in the league, other than the Cowboys of course (That's 2). But still he has obviously mastered his trade. You know when you get to a point where you can do your job in your sleep. You know you can stay out a little later and have ONE more drink because you got an easy day tomorrow. In Brett's case that would be the Raiders or Chiefs.
It is the first game of the season. The Saints came out fast and scored first. It will be interesting to see if Favre can make it the whole season. I mean he is 40. Thats a benchmark age. Things change. Your relfexes are slower. Your prostate starts to act up. God forbid Brett has to take a trickle piss every 12 minutes. You know the NFL will accomidate with a a "Port-a-Brett" on the Vikings sideline.
Don't hate Packer fans, your team is good and Brett still loves you he's just got your number. Besides you have to love him. He's done so much for your team. You know who does not have to love him? Falcons fans. We draft him and he's a third string douche bag with a wicked pill addiction. We trade him and he becomes the greatest playmaker at his position ever.
I'm not a fan of Brett Farve but I have to be honest if he wins it this year, I'll be OK with it. He's earned it. If for nothing else for being the toughest SOB to ever play. He's never missed a game. never. Thats over 300 games. Incredible. Like him or not.
Good Luck Brett.
